What is the FFA?

The National FFA Organization is a student organization dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and careersuccess through agricultural education. 

How can I be an FFA member?

You can be a member by enrolling in Agricultural Education courses at Lexington Technology Center then pay your FFA dues and you are a member.

How much are FFA Dues?

The FFA dues are $8.00.  This is the local, state, and national dues, by paying these dues this entitles you to all the privileges at conventions, camp, career development events, and much, much, more.

Are Agriculture classes hard?

All agriculture classes are designed to be challenging, demanding, and fun.  Expectations are high for all students enrolled in agriculture class.  Those students that are not interested in learning and working as a team should consider easier less demanding courses.

What about leadership skills?

No student organization does it better than the FFA.  FFA members have the opportunity to participate in leadership conferences, leadership competitions, conventions, serve on committees, learn parliamentary procedure and serve as a chapter officer.  Members also have the opportunity to work on numerous chapter activities to build teambuilding skills.

What kind of competitive activites are availible?

Our chapter has developed a tradition of state winning teams.  Public Speaking, floriculture, nursery landscaping, wildlife management, and soil identification are just a few of the competitive events available.

Since I do not want to be a farmer what does the FFA have to offer me?

Agriculture makes up about a third of the occupations in the workforce.  We realize that the vast majorityof our members will not go into production agriculture.  We want members to realize that there is a multitude of careers that are related to agriculture such as landscape design, greenhouse management, wildlife management, forestry, research,  agricultural science, engineering, etc.

Are there any other reasons that I should consider becoming a FFA member?

All students have a need to be part of a group.  Our members consider the Lexington Technology Center FFA Chapter a family with a special togetherness that is unique with our chapter.  Come join our chapter and be a part of a winning team.
